    apply diatomaceous earth or corn meal in your gardens

    Sink a plate or bowl level with the ground. Pour some beer in he bowl. The snails/slugs are attracted to the yeast. They drink their fill and die. In the mean time hand pick the ones on the plants.

    mix 1 part ammonia and 10 parts water in a watering container, no stronger! Before the hosta come up or as soon as you see the tips, spray the earth with your mixture. It might take a couple of treatments, only a once per early spring, before you see no snails or slugs. Yahoo!
