I have the same problem , The sliding doors keep falling off the track. I am going to hang curtains and make folding tables out of the doors. Tension roods should work
That is a bummer... I had the same issue, however, I didn't take the easy way out. I had solid doors cut to work. Can you install bifold doors? They don't take up as much space in room, but allow you to see entire closet.
Could you have a pocket door installed? If not one, but maybe two, one on each side. If you are not sure wh a pocket door is, I could try to post a couple of pictures.

You could also have a barn door installed, but the hardware and door are not cheap.
Least expensive option? Buy a heavy duty tension rod and hang a grommet style curtain you can move from one side to the other. If you want it to look fuller, purchase one that's at least 2 times the width of the current opening.
Go to a recycle business, garage sale , auction find cheap French doors cut them down to the size you need , on the window panes put cling stencils or use them as frames for family pics!
Great Idea will try!
Pocket doors
You can order the size you need from Home Depot or Lowes just will take a couple of months or use the smaller ones adding a piece of trim of the middle to cover the gap. They do this for rooms with double doors to afford more privacy with out the gap
Try using window shutters. They come in several sizes and are pretty cheap.
