What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?

You can spread blood meal fertilizer on your soil to scare the rabbits away. Blood is a danger signal to rabbits. Sprinkle with care though; overfertilization can harm your plants.
In regards to your chipmunks, sprinkling cayenne pepper could deter them.

Cayenne pepper also deters the bunnies. Our buns like the hostas, so I sprinkle the pepper on the leaves and on the ground around the plant. I have also heard that moth balls sprinkled around the plants help because bunnies don't like the scent, but be careful if you have dogs because they can get very sick if they accidentally eat the mothballs.
For the chippers, you can also sprinkle the pepper near the opening of their nesting holes.
You may also want to look up humane ways of ridding your yard of the critters on some gardening sites.
to keep your plants from being eaten in a blender and some water, dish soap and a lot of hot peppers churn this up so you can spray it on your plants even deer will not bother them as they just take one taste and wolla no more varmits eating your plants
