Are your shaking the can beforehand? If so that could be part of the problem. Cans of polyurethane should be stirred by hand. Also I'd suggest using a roller instead of a brush. Good luck!!
Are you moving the brush in only one direction. Thar is how I was taught.
Let's try the word "that" instead of thar
Never shake the can. Use a foam brush or roller to apply the polyurethane. OR, lightly sand and use wipe on poly. I appreciate the ease of the wipe on satin finish and have been happy with the results. Good luck with your project.
I actually saw a video on Youtube where a guy took the Minwax satin poly and mixed it 3:1 with Mineral spirits to make a wipe on poly. I used this on the final coat that I put on the cherry cedar chest that I made. Not perfect, but a lot easier and better finish than me brushing on the satin out of the can. Thanks for the recommendation on the wipe on, as I'll give it a try on my next few projects.
That happened t o us when we did a coffee table, those bubble are called "fish eyes". When searching for what caused it, I learned that the silicon in spray polish is the culprit, and we had sanded first.
