Create a Custom Sign for Any Space

I created a custom sign for my workplace and it was so easy yet beautiful that I had to share. This sign was made for a restroom, but you can customize it to whatever space you use it in.
Starting with a wood plaque and a c hook, screw the c hook into the top of the plaque so it can hang properly. Stain the wood using a weathered oak from Minwax and weathered gray stain from Varathane.
Using Folk Art Antique Stain, darken the outside of the plaque so it gives it depth. Use white wax to break up the dark if it looks too solid around the edges.
Apply a vinyl sticker on each side of the sign. I purchased 2 custom restroom stickers from Etsy in script font.
Lastly, use a decorative plant hook to hang the fancy sign! The clients at the salon love the new sign and it sure beats a piece of paper hanging on the door saying restroom! Check out Mommy's Tool Belt for the full tutorial.

Inspired....yes! Except, I didn't have a pretty hanger or pretty sign. Soooo, I used wire wrapped around pipe, cardboard, twine, copy paper and marking pen. Oh, little nail and hammer. Left 2 inches at both end of the curled wire to poke wire in sheetrock, bent as shown and pushed in hole made by small nail. Family thought I was clever, with LOL....REALLY?
