Use the new rustoleum 2x spray! I used it for Christmas decorations and it went on like butter!!!!! Fewer coats need!!
Leslie, you are right! It takes about 2 coats, and letting them dry between coats. I love the new vibrant colors these days. Have fun!
I just saw a great post where the gaps and small breaks in the wicker weaving were replaced or fortified with clothesline rope. Then everything was spray painted. The paint did its job, but also acted as glue for the rope ends with a little help by the owner. The rope may need more paint to blend in. One really bad arm needed a paint stirer for a splint, then it was bound with duct tape, and painted with several coats. When all the paint was dry, a pretty scarf was draped across the mended arm and the chair was very cute. Best wishes!
I've restored old wicker by using a good glue, like yellow wood glue, applied to the damaged wicker areas, and then securing the damage by tying it in place with heavy duty thread. Once it's dry (24 hours later), simply spray with a quality white paint, several coats will be necessary.
