Do you want to cover the whole area?
What is your goal? Water conservation...work reduction..
Wow, what a great yard, trees and shrubs. They make some realistic artificial turf$ now. I would leave a path of gravel ( straight or curved)from your bridge all the way to the center of the trees around them and along the sides of your other beds, run your turf on both sides of your walk way from the bridge, about 8' (depending how much you want to spend per foot)and add some potted plants on the gravel half on half off the path for interest (always allow at least 3' for your path, add some large interesting rock, (or fake ones you can move around for a different look till you decide where you want them) You can also make fake rocks out of insulation foam. You'll find a video on youtube about it. In the 8' strips of turf, you could also make pathways of gravel to both sides of the yard, from the center to both side walks of gravel along the side beds... like a big X or curve for a more softening look. Don't forget you can cover the paths with mulch to soften the look also, or use a different color gravel to add interest. Have fun and hope you post the results. Don't forget the possibility of a water feature, lighting or an additional setting area before you get started, mark off with spray paint and measure what width truf you need to purchase. Gin Johnson, what a great idea, especially the spray paint hint, never would have thought of that, thanks
It looks like this is not on the ground grass would be heavy. Have you thought of using just gravel in different colors to make a beautiful design.
You can make a dry river with pebble stone under the bridge then curve away to the yard. Identify the features you like the definy an area for it. Fire pit around with settings would be good since you are in NY, a relatively cold state.
So much space in your garden, there are many benefits to having artificial grass: https://wezaggle.com/the-benefits-of-having-artificial-grass-the-complete-guide/ Some sort of water feature would look cool maybe a moat under that small bridge!
