My knockout rose bushes are getting so lanky and big that I'd like to cut them back. When should I trim them?

Cut branches always above a "Y", stems, just above the first 5 leaf growth. (3 leaf sprig section is to be eliminated) Also always 'dead head' when bloom is finished.

I would water in the morning. I am from The United Kingdom so I presume it gets very warm in the day. If you water in the evening the temperature may drop over night and get cold then the roots will be stood in cold water. Add a mulch of organic compost or bark to hold in moisture. Hope your roses grown beautifully so that you can enjoy them. It's Spring here and flowers and trees are starting to burst into life. Happy gardening.
