Cleaning a stainless cooktop.

My stainless cooktop (gas) has cooked-on food stuck to it. I don't want to scratch the finish by scrubbing it with an abrasive cleanser. Does anyone know how to get it clean without ruining the finish?

Sprinkle generously with baking soda. Wet a dishcloth (or two) with warm soapy water (use your dish soap). Lay cloths across cook top for 15 minutes. Wipe clean. You may also have to do this a second time for particularly heavy cleaning.

I had a gas stainless stove back in the 60s...HATED IT! So with the craze of stainless now, I am "No, not me"! All I can tell you is I worked very hard to keep that stove clean and it was impossible. I did not care if mine got scratched! But even wiping it left a film on it! I feel your pain!
