Is there any other way to finish off chalk paint other than wax?

use the Krylon Crystal Clear sealer, you can choose if you want the finish matte, glossy, or regular. Good luck

Yep can't find the formula for chalk paint. It used Baking Soda water and white paint

I use Minwax Polycrylic. It's water based so it won't mess up the paint. I ususally put on at least 2 coats (depending on how rough the usage of the item is). Holds up really well.

Yes, you can use polyurethane in liquid form or in a spray can. Personally, I prefer to use a matte polyurethane over gloss polyurethane for most of my projects. I choose NOT to use wax at all and have discovered, that I can get the same finish as wax, by simply using a stain over the areas in order to darken any distressed area, of a piece of furniture or project, to give it a appearance of age to it. I then seal it with Matte polyurethane spray or liquid. I can still use a Matte polyurethane to protect and seal my project or piece... Poly seals/protects, your project or piece of furniture,and permits more activity, movement and use of it... without concern for ruining the finish. From what I understand about wax, is it is best to use with projects or furniture, that are not handled much,or at all. Plus, lots of people who swear by finishing their projects with wax, also say that they have to reapply wax again,at a later date(s) throughout the lifetime of the project or furniture. So there is required maintenance involved. Also, something people don't tell you about using wax as the final step on your project or piece of furniture is..... that you will NEVER be able to paint or stain that piece of furniture again... without figuring out how to remove all of the wax on that piece of furniture or project first. The reason is because the stain and/or paint will not adhere without elimination of all of the wax on the item first. People don't tell you that and it's important to know, in case you are someone who opts for change, now and again, or wants to change the style or colors in their home, without being required to buy a new piece of furniture or find something at a thrift store or garage sale, in order to do it.
