Construction adhesive and well placed nails into the studs.
Side ways one by one half flat attach to studs and nail boards to flat stock. This is what I did, it work. I pudied the nails indents and painted.
Find and mark all your studs with a stud finer and nail or brad the boards to the studs so they don't pull lose and you can hang a picture on them. If there are outlets or switches, you will need to get extenders for them so the covers are smooth to the new wall.
Locate your studs, and nail the ship lap directly into the studs.
