Use what ever you like...Pictures from magazines,photos,scrapbook paper,old cards...The list is endless....
I assume your canvas is already stretched. You can use something like Modpog or make your own medium with 50% white glue and 50% water.
Mod podge, baby! I just did this myself!
There are so many different mod podge products out there and one is made to work really well with canvas. I use foam br to work with mine.
