Hi Linda you could consider attaching beading to your cabinets before priming and painting, this will change the look of plain doors giving a panelled effect. You also could change the handles adding an updated look for not a lot of money. Or you could paint the existing handles/knobs or add decoupage to existing knobs finish with a hard matt finish varnish. I would love to see what finish you choose, happy decorating :-)
I applied paintable beadboard wall paper to my doors, then added a narrow wood frame around the wallpaper. Several coats of paint and it looks fantastic
Hi Linda,My father-inlaw used floor trim and glued a frame around the doors on the inside, across the top, than each side.He did the 45s on each corner to get the proper look.Than he painted with lamanite paint and they look like brand new cabinets. They are just beautiful. He also replaced the knobs with old looking glass knobs but that choice it totally yours.Wishing you the very best on your project.Cheers!!!
We used a small flat trim and installed it with glue and brads about 1" inside the door frames. We had stripped our cabinets door and restained everything at once and they turned out so pretty. Put new knobs and hardware on and it looked like a new kitchen. Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion.
