Are you considerating painting them? What are they made of?
lament
I've moved many times over the years and have always believed I was in my "forever" house. My first step was often to make cosmetic updates and therefore painted many countertops. There are many great tutorials on line. The only house I put granite countertops in gave me the least return on my investment. Be meticulous when doing it and you will love them. People ask how to take care of painted countertops. I've always told them to treat them as though they cost a lot of money--always use a cutting board, never use harsh cleansers or sponges, and always keep some of your paint in case something does happen--makes touch ups easy. I recommend putting touch-up paint in a small jar, label clearly, and keep small, inexpensive artist brushes on hand. Makes touching up so easy.
There are kits available at the big box stores to make quick changes to your counters without spending huge amounts of money and time.
