Z on Jan 04, 2014It wouldn't have an arched top, but a bi-fold door with half louvers would work. They come two in a pack so you could make two of them for about half the price of the one you saw today..Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jan 05, 2014If you are going to use a louver door, cut a panel from thin plywood and then get hooks in the garden department to hook in the bottom louvers to hang a different colored buckets on to hold your chalk, a place to drop keys, coin holder for kids to get lunch money, etc.Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Jan 05, 2014Re-Stores where they recycle building materials like Habitat for Humanity have tons of stuff like this. My Mother has these on the outside of her house. You can pick them up for next to nothing. Or you can try other things to get the look you want. Try picture frame, different things,Helpful Reply

Cher @ Designs By Studio C on Jan 05, 2014Home Depot also sells 2' x 4' chalkboard panels. They are really nice! This way, you wouldn't have to cut a board and paint it with the chalkboard paint. It could be inserted in the opening.Helpful Reply

Cynthia E on Jan 05, 2014I agree about using the louver doors or could also use shutters for smaller size ones. , also check out craigslist or bookoo yard sales for them, you could do as Cher said and insert chalkboard pieces at top or a piece of luan and paint w/ chalkboard paint. You could put the other door next to it (see pic.) w/ shelves or elsewhere in the house.. By the way how did Thanksgiving work out?Helpful Reply

Kathy Morton on Jan 05, 2014For the chalk board I would recommend going to Lowes or Home Depot and get a piece of sheet metal and spray paint w/ chalk board paint so that it is also magnetic.Helpful Reply

Linda Crandall on Jan 05, 2014Check garage sales, craigslist and thrift shops for them before you pay full price. I get them for around $5 for 4 of them that way. Remove the top louvers, insert a piece of cut brown boarding like they use on the back of furniture its at your local Lowe's and they will cut it for you. Paint with chalk board paint. Keep some of the removed louvers and turn them upside down at the bottom of the chalk board to hold your chalk pieces. Paint and love using it!Helpful Reply

Della on Jan 06, 2014I agree with Kathy Morton, I would get sheet metal spray paint and it can be used as magnet. I have some of them in picture frames for reminder notes. That is so much cheaper!!Helpful Reply
