I need a decorative idea to keep these meds in for the counter.
Under top cabinets, there are numerous items you can install. I've seen under counter entertainment systems, knife storage, spice racks, a place for a cookbook in use, can openers, to name a few. Also you can put up hooks to hang kitchen gadgets. Also a nice towel bar or fancy curtain rod on your back splash to hook utensils, or measuring cups and the like. Also you can cut a slit in the back of the counter to put your cutting knives thru. Also you can put up small hooks to hold up fancy salad molds that don't fit well stacked in cupboards. Hooks to hang whips and ice cream scoops, ( I have about 15 scoops of all sizes for different uses besides ice cream). Brackets to hold your rolling pin that doesn't fit anywhere's else. If your upper cupboards don't go all the way to the ceiling, you can put your kitchen collections up there, such as old bean pots, antique kitchen scales, Stuff you have that you don't want to get rid of but rarely or never use. Ideas are limitless.
Only items used daily on countertops. Make space in drawers and cabinets for frequently used items close to where they are used. For small items that MUST remain on countertops, group them and place in basket, tray, bowl, etc. to make them 1 item instead of multpile. Remember, anything exposed in a kitchen will become covered with with a grease film over time. The more things exposed, the more cleaning time you will have to invest.
Dont have room in your cabinets/drawers for stuff? Be very honest with yourself and clean it out to make room for things you actually use.
Less stuff=more space
Take care of an item immediately after use! Declutter, clean, use organizers that can hang on walls , or cabinets. Add a cabinet over the toilet for extra storage.
First purge. If you have not used an item in a year give it away or repurpose it. Rarely used items on a top shelf. I corral salt, pepper, cooking oil and vinegar in a pie plate next to the stove. I remove cereal from boxes and keep in the cupboard with a clothespin. Takes up much less space without the boxes. Knives hang on the wall using a magnetized board. I keep spray bottles hanging under the sink on a tension rod. I use a drawer organizer in the junk drawer. This keeps it from turning into a no man's land of forgotten objects. KEEP PAPER OUT OF THE KITCHEN.
There are a bunch of Youtubers that do dollar store organization videos, I love watching those to inspire me and get me moving on a project.
