Do you want to disguise the wall or are you looking for info on how to place your fireplace in this alcove?
It is not clear what you want as I do not see a fireplace in this photo requiring it to be disguise. Another photo may help us understand problem.
The post is most likely load bearing so to put a fireplace in this space you would have to come out beyond the post. Is there a particular reason you want to put a fireplace there? If it is the only available wall I would say forget the fireplace, it will look strange and you will soon tire of that look.
are you asking how to make the wall area ready for a fire place? best to show the fireplace unit in a picture. and that wall dose not look too wide. why would you want a fireplace between a window and a door way?
Paint it same color as wall
If you're putting a fireplace there, embrace it. Put in one you can see from both rooms and make it the focal point!
Do you mean the chimney run not a "fireplace" i would suggest building a shelving unit on side towards bedrooM. Then it is more of a unit instead of just a square jutting outif you mean a fireplace that you still haven't installed. I would say to build out wall so it is flush then install fireplace. You could make a small linen closet behind where you had to build wall out (with a door towards bedroom doorway)
Use joint compound to create rocks, hand paint to look like real rocks or paint all one color rock wall.
Be careful. Just because you want a fireplace you may not be up to code to do it. If you ever go to sell the house you may have to remove it or it could effect the resale price. I think you should look for another place.
can the fireplace be a see through. it doesn't have to a full log view on the other side.
