To be honest with you I have done it twice. make easy meals in a crock pot.Keep only a few essentials available.Set up an area for your dishes etc.out of the way.I actually lived on paper dishes and plastic cups and silver ware .
Ugh, I feel your pain. I hope to be coming up on the final days of our 6 week DIY kitchen remodel. As mentioned crockpot dinners are a must. Grab a tote with a lid and put all the needed plates, cups and silverware inside with a few dish towels over the top. Paper will same time too. I used my travel trailer dish pan and rack in the bathroom to clean what was needed for the few days the counter and sink were being replaced. I cleaned the sink really well before and after. Then put the dish rack and dish pan back in the lidded tote. I kept the salt, pepper shakers napkins most used spices in a plastic shoebox size container on the living room coffee table Which is where we ate meals for a while. Just a few ideas, good luck and have fun.
A portable induction burner and crockpot were what saved me. I also prepared freezer meals ahead of time that we could just pop into the microwave. Paper plates, bowls, cups and napkins.
I bought an enexpensive shelving unit which I put in a corner of my dining room. That became my mini work area for prep and cooking. Also stored the needed necessities. We also moved our fridge into the dining room.
If during spring summer months, grill all your food on the bbq. I learned how to do just about everything on a gas grill. Crockpot, toaster oven, whatever you have. I had the luxury of having a travel trailer so we just used that. Pretend you are camping. And when done, if possible, spring for a professional cleaning crew to clean up all the dust and stuff that ended up in the rest of the house. My dad was a GC and growing up, there was always something being "upgraded" . . . Just remember if you get frustrated, it will be SO worth it in the end.
We took our shelves from the basement and set the up in the dining roomto for all our dishes and pots and pans, cans and boxes of food. Left silver ware in the drawers and just set them on the shelves. A crock pot, toaster, microwave and large electric skillet did the cooking. unfortunatly you will most likely be doing your dishes in a dishpan by your bathtub or sink.
We love our new little kitchen so much, we have mostly forgotten and forgiven the inconvenience. As with most remodels, it took longer than expected.
