I want to put wooden planking on my bedroom ceiling, which one?

I know some wood gives off an odor, and some can have chemical in them. I want to make sure I don't pick the wrong kind for a bedroom. I was leaning towards the Laminate Flooring that snaps together. I saw it done in a cabin main room & it was stunning (they screwed it to the ceiling). Any suggestions?

Do you live in a humid climate?
