Those are gorgeous suitcases! For the metal pieces, you can clean with a microfiber cloth and then use steel wool (with goggles!) to remove rust and restore some shine to the metal pieces. You can stop and use the microfiber cloth every few minutes to see progress. That said - painting over them (like in the above photo) also looks nice!
try crumpled up Aluminum Foil. works wonders on car chrome.
You might try rubbing the handles with coke a cola
These really are pretty just the way they are. Great Job. If you want the metal look on the hardware, What about painting with Silver or gold nail polish and then sealing with a wipe on poly?
