The Zoo by me hangs up bars of soap to keep the wild deer of their property.
Try this website: http://extension.psu.edu/search?SearchableText=deer+proof, or go to a good plant nursery near you and ask for a list of deep proof plants. I have hungry deer too, and from personal experience here in Oregon, I can recommend bleeding hearts, hakenechloa grass, rhododendrons, (not azaleas), mountain laurel. Your dear may be different than mine though!
I live in SE PA. Hostas here don't stand a chance! My yard is lines with Hostas and by mid Summer looks like celery ! They love Hosta salad bars! My neighbor also has Hostas but sprays deer repellent after every rain. Hers look great. So unless you want to spray or use another deterrent, I don't recommend Hostas. I agree with Bazastrow, find another planting.
