Sealing Wax- How can I melt wax for sealing letters?

Hold a crayon or cake candle over the spot you wish to seal. Apply a flame to the low end until a sufficient amount of wax has malted. Blow out match and apply seal to hot wax blob.

I save the red wax coating off the Baby Bel cheese I snack on, the ones that come in the net bag by the dozen. Its thin and can warm in your hand into a ball. I then melt in a cat food can in a water bath, and use for various projects. I bet you could take a small ball put on a plastic lid, and microwave for 10 secs. Pick it up with a fork onto your envelop and seal.

hallmark used to sell the sealing wax. it is harder than candle wax or crayons. I used to use a lighter to melt it, and then press a fancy button in for an ornamental effect

Amazon sells sealing wax sticks and also sealing wax pods. (Little tiny star shaped wax pieces to melt over a heat source. Michael's and AC Moore also sells sealing wax sticks in the wedding section of the store. I use a wooden match to melt the wax and one match is sufficient to amass enough wax on the envelope to seal.

I love using the sealing wax and even use my "Thank You" brass seal on my bills when I pay them by mail!
