I have kitchen cabinets with a round corner- how do I update?
They are good quality so I don't want to replace.
I usually take them out before painting. It makes the job easier.
Personally If you are painting the cabinets I would remove the handles and fill the holes then buy new handles to put on the side of the cabinets. That would really create a whole new feel in your kitchen.
I agree. My old kitchen cabinets had that center handle. When I reused some of the old cabinets after a remodel in the kitchen, I filled the old holes in the center panel, scrubbed, sanded and then painted the wood. You would never know what they once looked like. Something I did with the upper cupboards I kept was remove the old doors entirely, fill the holes from the hinges and paint them, using them for open storage.
If paint won't stick to your kitchen cabinets, or you like the finish, simply drill and attach handles where you want them, and apply something to cover the center holes. One thought would be to purchase refridge mahnets, maybe fruits or pots/pans, remove the magnet material, and glue over holes with contact cement.
It you want to change the location, fill in holes and repaint. If you like them, just remove before repainting
If you are having a hard time covering the holes in the center of the doors from the old knobs, you could use wood appliques from Lowe's or Home Depot to cover them...then paint over them for a decorative effect. Not sure of your style, but here is a picture of one type....
