    Get a coat rack.

  • I have a coat closet, one problem, it is full of my coats! So what I do is use wreath hangers on that same door and have a bunch of coat hangers handy and just hang the coats on the wreath hanger. When guests have departed - stash in your closet. Most dollar type stores carry metal wreath hangers year round. Works great, not expensive and easy!

You could consider installing a second pole in your closet. (High & Low) I did this in my one hall closet and it worked out great; twice as much storage now. Best of luck.

If it's just for occasional guests and you have room on a wall nearby, you could make a wall hanging with hooks on them. We decorate with a beach theme and I found an old oar that I painted and then attached hooks to it and hung it on the wall. It doubles great for sweatshirts, hats, bags, etc.

You can buy "old-fashioned" looking double hooks [I have one that has four hooks on it] and mount it on a wall near an entrance. Mine is dark iron with a pineapple design on it. Also a great idea to use hooks for hubby and teenager....since they can't be bothered to have up jackets, and a hook is sooooo easy!
