Surfing within HT: 1 part hot water, 1 part Plaster of Paris (POP), 3 parts latex paint mixed very well. Some prefer Calcium Carbonate in stead of POP. or Lime Putty, see http://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/q-home-made-chalk-paint-3186915
or 1 cup paint plus 2 Tablespoons un-sanded grout. Next recipe is 1/2 cup paint & 1 cup paint, water to thin if needed. And they all need to be waxed afterward.

Home-Made Chalk Paint
There are a number of recipes here on Hometalk. A google search turned up any number of options: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=chalk+pain+recipe
The easiest recipe I have used is this:
Mix 1/3 cup of plaster of Paris and 1/3 cup of cool water; stir until completely smooth. Mix that with 1 cup of latex paint and stir thoroughly. This will makeenough chalk-finish paint for one coat on a six-drawer dresser. Chalk-finish paint should not be stored and reused.
