You can replaced y the existing slides with soft close slides or install adapters to the existing slides.

No, the soft close slides are different. They have a catch mechanism to enable the drawer to be caught then pulled the rest of the way softly.
You can but it takes a special mechanism. They are very expensive though, about $35.00 a piece for each drawer. Too much for me.
So it is probably cheaper to just change the slides over to soft close slides. I know I can purchase them for less than $35 a drawer in Canada, so if you are in the USA you will be able to find some for much less than $35.
