Is it true that treating ants to corn meal will attract, then dispatch ants? I really don't want to put corn meal out and have them reproduce due to better nutrition! They like to show up on my kitchen sink each year....i.d. now! Thanks for your expertise!

Cornmeal is suppose to kill them - they eat get thirsty then drink water. It expands in their bellies killing them.

You may cause yourself more harm as the cornmeal can attract other pests!

    ROACHES, MICE, RATS ext..

Best natural, & cheap way is also easy. YAY!

    " FRESH MINT "

Buy a plant or just buy some from the local grocery while shopping.

Place the mint around or pieces inside of cabinets. Where ever you believe they are coming in from.

They HATE MINT & will move out fast!

Hope this is of help to you.

Actually, it depends on what kind of ants you have. Red, Fire, Sugar ants all need different treatments. Take a sample of your ants, go to a garden specialty store (hardware store will give you a generic answer), or call your local university that has an extension dept and they can take a look at your ant and tell you what kind you have. Then, with a bit of research you'll be able to tell what to use. I tried everything from sugar to grease, from paprika to peanut butter

, and onward. The only thing that finally after 5 years got rid of the kind of ants I have was to put out ant baits. Gone in two weeks. I don't like chemicals, but sometimes they are the only answer. Find out what kind you have and you'll find the answer to your question. Not all ants are the same.

I had ants, thousands around my outside water line. I used half box of yellow cornmeal....5 hours later cornmeal was gone. Never saw another ant.

I had the same experience with ants. I got the white cornmeal and spread it under the place where the gas line came in the house and within a few hours, ants were gone and I never had another ant in the remaining three years I lived there.

It does depend on which ants you are referring to.And if they are inside or outside which was not specified.

It's also helpful to find out where they are coming in from....and caulk or seal up the entrance point. At the very least, find out where they come in from and spray Raid or put out traps.
