Make sure that even if the lighting itself is toward the front of the counter, it will significant light toward the back - because that is likely where you need the light

Mind the color temperature of the lighting you install; it will affect the colors of your backsplash. For example, cool light will make warm colors on a backsplash look dull but it will make cool colors look much more vivid.

  • Will you be using it as task lighting or just to find things or for ambience?

decide where you need the extra lighting then try and even it out around the kitchen. Also do research on which lights will work the best for your needs. Do you want them to work independently?

    1. Where the electrical connection is. 2. How much of the lighting housing will show. (whether you have flush mount or recess) If flush mounted put up a mock light base and look at it from all points of the room and if seen from a sitting area. That way you will know if you need to add molding trim to hide it.

The way to go now is the strip LED lights. Easy to use and install.
