Hi Rhonda,
You can use acrylic paints on t-shirts but when it dries it will be a little rough to the touch. If you add a fabric medium to the paint it will be softer.
Fabric medium and then heat set. After a 24 he period. Wash and toss in a dryer set for delicates. The fabric medium help the paint to adhere to the fabric and not wash out
Mix fabric medium in with paint. I suggest that after it dries, you put it in the dryer for about 15 minutes to heat set it before washing. We did some " cheater tie-dye" about 10 years ago and the paint is still vibrant.
We always use fabric medium. It makes the paint flow better and the shirt not soak it up so bad. Also, cut a piece of cardboard to put inside to prevent bleeding!
