I don't think so... I asked my friend too and he just sent a cropped image of an original picture.

Oh my goodness!! take the picture or the live bugs to a garden nursery and ask them!! Do it before they get in your house. If you take them to a nursery, wear gloves prior to handling! You have no idea what they might be!!

I know! I'm just glad they aren't at my house... and he just had his home built too. His wife thought they might be some kind of larvae... I've been googling but found nothing even close.

Take the photo AND a couple bugs (in a jar) to your local Extension Office. Someone there will probably know and recommend a fix.

IF they are larvae a simple spray with bT will kill many. But I seriously suggest/agree that an ID from the Extension is the best idea!

My first thought is a Box Elder beetle. I googled Box Elder beetle larvae and came up with some similar pictures.

I know what they are. They are disgusting (as are most bugs)! 😱🙂

They could be slaters (I'm from Australia), not harmful, dwell wherever there's dead, dry organic material to devour. If you have chickens, they will think all their Christmases have come at once - they love them! They're an important part of the eco-system so no need to get the pest exterminator out!
