I hate it when that happens!
I have used " Goo Gone Painters Pal" spray -on with some success , on caulking, latex paint, and oil based paint. But I got the stain when it was fresh, kept spraying, scraping, blotting, and rinsing, then laundered the item by itself , and added oxyckean, and double rinsed w fabric softener to remove the Goo Gone smell.
Goo gone has many products in its line. Make sure it's " painters pal". You want to treat it before you launder at all. As always , follow manufacturers suggestions, and pre test on the fabric in an inconspicuous area.
Black is always tricky however, there was no dye removal visible on my dark navy hoodie.
Good Luck!
I have used a similar product - "De-Solv-It" It is a citrus solution and takes out everything from wax in your carpet, melted crayons in your fabric car seats to chewing gum in hair! Works on oil based and latex paint, adhesive, tar, silicone, etc. They also have a contractor series that is even stronger. All 100% biodegradable and organic! Can't keep enough of it in my house!
Water based paint come out in water but others need a chemical based cleaner. Turps should work depending on what was used. A dry cleaner will be able to advise you on which one is best. I was told by a carpet cleaning man to treat stains ect be for washing them as the treatment might not work afterwards. Tip put an appron or overalls on be for you start that way you won't have to worry. Hope this helps. Kay Adelaide Australia
