Has anyone created a pond out of an old canoe?

Trying to make a water feature to our yard and have an old canoe. Can anyone give any details on how to set up a filter feature or the best way to keep this clean? We have a solar fountain, but just need a little help.

    sounds cool!

I think you're saying the fountain is IN the canoe? In which case, it's a fountain, which needs less " filtering" and more water treating, (depending on how much water is in there).

I've found that the easiest way to treat fountain water ( I have 5.. and a swimming pool) is to add some chlorine bleach , or a small amount of pool chlorine, at regular intervals. I also add " mosquito dunks" monthly to stop mosquito reproduction.

I'm sure you're going to get all kinds of responses because there are lots of ways to filter fountains and ponds. My on,y experience w filtering is swimming pools.

    Good Luck!

PS.. in my experience, electric fountain pumps are more dependable, and come in many sizes, to suit your set-up., If you don't have electricity nearby, I suggest you still read up on electric fountains to make sure you have the correct size solar pump. The formula depends on how many feet from pump to spray end. It will make a huge difference in your water feature.

    Have fun!
