I use mineral spirits to clean furniture.
Since it's unfinished, you could first lightly sand the burn, in the direction of the grain, using either super fine steel or copper wool, or sand paper,.
Then use the mineral spirits.
Nice Lisadoll! with a burn mark there is always the risk of there being 'a divit' where the wood burned the deepest...that is hard to hide on an unfinished piece. If you really like the desktop, I would suggest that you sand out the burn spot as suggested, as well as the rest of the desk top, then stain the desk top in a color that closely match what you Didn't get off the surface BUT, make sure you DO NOT add any stain to the actual burn mark itself. Once the stain has dried compare the colors to see if you need to add anymore stain, if not...proceed with a clear sealer coat over then entire desktop.
