Try some Armor Etch cream (available at your craft store or online) and a stencil. Or us some of the new frosted glass effects spray paint and a stencil. Add a design, a border, panes...whatever you can imagine.
Add a frame on it, or change the existing frame if it has one. You could go retro and put a shadow box frame on it.
a nice painted or stained frame will update it
i would get glass paints and paint a dragon or a tiger or something on it but thats me
