You really have to try to figure out where they are coming in from and plug that hole. I sprinkle cinnamon and thieves oil on cotton ball in window sills and it seems to be keeping them at bay.
I wiped down my counters with Avon Skin-so-Soft wipes. Haven't seen another ant. A friend recommended this remedy and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps you too.
just plain old corn meal sprinkled around. they will take it back to there hole and eat it and it will kill all of them. takes a few weeks but you won't have them after that
Dimataus earth......it is finely ground shell. Sprinkle out side the rim of your house and Windows. All natural ....kills all insects. it is like tiny charts of glass. They injest and die.nworks great on snails and slugs too. Have to repeat if it gets wet. But it is cheap.
Chili powder works! I used to have trouble every spring and now I get bottles of chili powder at the 99 cent store, poke some holes in the top, and put them in cabinets where ants tend to go first (like around the outside perimeter of my kitchen). I replace them every 6 months and have not had a problem since starting this practice. They don't go on my counters or anywhere else anymore. I have even sprinkled some in the tracks of my windows ...
I use garlic on the ants on my counter top. I squish garlic in a circle around the ant(s) so they have to cross the garlic on the counter or floor surface. I do this with all the ants I see. The ants will reluctantly cross the garlic barrier thus taking the essence back to the nest. I leave the garlic on the counter and I don't kill a single ant. I do this for a day or two and they eventually stop coming. They stay away long term. Another time an ant trail showed up one day at my son's while I watched his house and cared for his cats. I put the cat food dish in a pie pan filled with an inch of water to keep the ants away from food. I spread garlic around the ants on the trail and created a barrier around the area where food was previously left out. Did this three days; fourth day...no ants. They have not returned.
