Refinished Craftsman Front Door

We found an old Craftsman door beside the road for $15 and turned it into our new-to-us refinished beautiful front door. Sanding it down, repairing some damage, building a new dental shelf, and staining and sealing were the required tasks. We LOVE the finished product!!
The almost 100 year old door needed a lot of TLC, but for $15 we couldn't pass it up!
We sanded down the door to remove the old finish.
To make the door secure, we added lag bolts to the inside of the door.
Then filled in the holes with dowel rods.
We built a dental shelf to give the door a new, more classy look.
Then added the stain and varnish.
The new look is AMAZING!!

Wonderful job indeed! I know zip about doors but intend to redo my front door simply to have it open from a 'left side handle' and 'into' my home. My question is on the lag bolts...I looked at your site but couldn't tell. Were all 4 on the hinged side only? or 1 on each corner of the door? Also, would 1 on each side make it measure more rectangular??? Thank You for The Great Idea!

Your link is not working. It says your account has been suspended. You said you used a Varathane stain in Carrington? Is there a top coat i.e. polyurethane and the finish, satin? Thanks!
