This is such a fun life to work with! Would you be open to disassembling and using the wood to make something else entirely?

I would sand it down, put a peice of wood on top, not sure if hinges would work here? Then re paint/stain it @ vola a small coffee side table with storage underneath. Alternatively you could use it to store toilet rolls ect @ vola again you have a storage container. Put pot plants in it, hence @ planter basket, just add a handle. If you are going to use it outdoors, I would prime the wood before painting it, to pretect the wood against the harsh elements of tbe out doors. Hope theese idears help. Kay Adelaide Australia

I had one the that I turned into a doll bed for my kids. Super cute! Take out the center piece, and depending on how much work/ time you want to put into it, cut down the sides (front & back) I made a 'mattress ' & pillow with bedding, painted white added pads on the feet - didn't want my floors scratched . I found the idea on Pinterest you could look there for lots of ideas!

I just saw one like that at the thrift store and thought it might be good for organizing my Corningware lids and pan lids.

If you have a big bathroom, use it as a towel holder with rolled up towels in it -

so cute if you paint it a contrasting color :)

Use it at a pool for towels too -

Adorable end table for a patio if you paint it white and turn it upside down!

Being an avid crafter, I would put all my scrap booking and wall paper pages in it like I did this one. It's also a great place for a laptop charger and gift bags, anything that can sit upright would work.

I got this new for just 4.99. When I say new, it still had the 39.99 price tag on it so yes, these are wonderful for all kinds of things. I have another for yarn so I am kinda biased as to which room they go in!! Hope that helps!!
