We use hydrogen peroxide, teaspoon of baking soda nd a squirt of dish detergent in a quart jar. sop up pee with s paper towel, then pour mixture on spot. Brush vigorously with a scrub brush.Let sit for a few minutes and wipe with a clean cloth
My mother had two small dogs and for occasional accidents on her 100% wool rug she swore by club soda! Seemed to work - no bad smells and no stains on her treasured rug.
Apply baking soda at this point to absorb the odor.
You must absorb the moisture first. I use the doggie training pads to soak up the wet spot (she occasionally misses the pad) or terry cloth rags....old towels. Then I follow Susie Finney's advice.
Buy dog enzyme spray from th pet store. Not cheap but the only thing that really works without wrecking rugs or furniture and has the right stuff to neutralize the stain and odor.
I use Resolve carpet cleaner and a scrub brush which works better for me than a rug shampooer on small spots. First I blot up all I can with paper towels. When it is almost dry I spray with hydrogen peroxide.
