Hi everyone, I am framing my chicken wire to dry my herbs on and I would like to wallpaper or decoupage diff. spices or seed packets on the piece of plywood behind the chicken wire. I would love input on this project please even if you have a different idea for me, thanks!!

I love the look you get when using a hand held torch, it gives it a rustic look

whatever you do, make sure you seal it with a waterproof outdoor clear sealer!

Decoupage would work great. But be sure you use aan outdoor waterproof sealer or a marine sealer. Both can be found at your big box hardware store. You might want to stain the plywood first and then decoupage and then do a very light stain over the decoupage for an aged look. Good luck and I hope we see pictures.

I hope to post my idea if I can remember to take pics! I have like 6 different projects going right now. Spring fever got a hold of me :) I found some gorgeous paper that already looks aged and I love it. But, why should I stain the wood first and should it be a light or dark stain?!? I was going to do it tomorrow but will wait a day or two and see if you comment. Thanks for taking the time!

Wall paper as a background would look amazing.

Yes it would but I have already found some amazing paper I want to use. Thanks!

I suggested stain if you weren't going to decoupage the whole thing. Sealing the plywood in some way will make the decoupage go on better. Can't wait to see what you do.

This is YOUR project. Do not be concerned with what "some people" might think. Your are the one that is going to be using it, seeing it and enjoying it! Whatever you do, seal it well to avoid possible delamination of the plywood at a later date. I think it sounds like an amazing idea. I may try using it myself!

That should work. You just want a nice, smooth, sealed surface.
