A lot of work. A lot of mess. Some damage to repair.
What I did two years ago in my brothers bathroom was removed the drywall where the tile was. His was about four feet high, all the walls covered. Added insulation where there was none. Replaced the drywall, mudded the joints, primed and painted. New tiles around the tub.
