Overwatering can lead to root rot, which can in turn cause its leaves to turn yellow. You should only water the plant when the top one inch of the potting medium is dry and the roots are white, and make sure there are enough holes in the pot to allow proper drainage.
I would research care of Orchids on Google. I find some people are really great at growing them and while I can grow most plants I am useless when it comes to Orchids. Like the lady above I immediately thought of watering but it could be light, the wrong potting medium, not enough time outside / inside. Perhaps there is a local Orchid Society in your region or you could go to an Orchid show and learn more from the experts.
I water my orchids on the same day every week. I remove the pot from the ceramic pot. Fill ceramic pit half full of water and replace the orchid, and let set six minutes. Let extra water drip from the plant for a few seconds, and replace the put in the ceramic and I am done.
My Mom has a bunch of orchids. Depending on the size of the pot she puts 1-2 ice cubes on the soil when it's dry.
