How do I make a credenza ....??

Hello, I have two old dressers that I don't need. So I put them in the parlor and placed the tv on them. I am a 60's kind of girl. I love the retro era. Now my problem, these dressers are the old, I think it's called shellac dressers. Problem one can these be painted? Problem two, how can I make them look like a credenza straight out of the 1960's?
Thanks.

Shellac is actually a primer, so you can indeed paint over it!

  • I found this photo, perhaps it can be an inspiration for you:

Your pics are lovely. Have a great time, and be sure to lay down papers, and stay out of the breeze. Always lay on top of a piece of wood, so any extra drips, will land on the papers, not a back up of paint on your product. Best wishes, J.

dont know how you knew it but it's raining right now. The rainy days are driving me crazy but you should see my lawn and flowers. Ha!

You are very welcome, Elizabeth. The rain will help the flowers, and weeds as well as helping nature of birds, to find their food for their little ones. No matter what, there is a reason for the changes in weather. Saturday, is suppose to be rainy here, and Sun., SUNSHINE . . we will see. . but, there is always work to be done in the home, or porch, and then when the sun does come out, we can begin pulling weeds again, right? OH, if you put brown paper sacks under the main top soil of your flowers, this will help keep the weeds away from that flower, ok?

Have a lovely evening, and we will keep Quacking, like ducks, for the rain, right?

    Take care, Judy.

Judy, Thank you for the flower tip. I'm going to do that. You are right about the house and the porch. I am always busy.

      Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth.
