I'm not sure how to get them down without breaking them but I do know you should criss cross lots of tape over the front of it so if it does break, it won't go everywhere.
Get some help! Tape the surface of the mirror with painters tape criss crossed like Colleen says. Take a long length of dental floss, slip it behind the corner of the mirror, and use it like a saw to cut through the adhesive. Have a helper hold the mirror. If it seems to be loosening gently try prying it from the wall with a putty knife or anything long, stiff, and flat. Good Luck.
Fishing line is stronger than dental floss, but otherwise William has the right idea! Success depends on the type of glue used, and the amount of glue used!
You can also put a complete piece of film over them and criss-cross wide tape over that. Lay down a cloth, and then break the glass starting at the top, and remove using thick gloves into a box. Wear a thick shirt too and protective glasses.
We took our heat gun to it to loosen up.....Taped the mirror up just in case...popped right off....
What kind of tape did you use? Thanks for your response!
