Is it safe for plants if I mulch them with coffee grounds?

  • Yes depending upon the plant. Some do not take the acid well. I usse it for roses, lavender, herbs, marigolds, rosemary and baby fig tree.

    I have read you can combine it into compost for vegetables. With that you would have vegetable scraps and soil also. Acid loving plants include azaleas and camellias

      Yes, it certainly works well in compost. Or actually around almost all plants. It would take several tractor trailer loads of spend coffee grounds to effect the soil pH enough to make it acidic. However, earthworms love coffee grounds and black and white newspaper. The more worms you have the better you soil, since worm castings are wonderful fertilizer.
