Press into soil shallowly. Ok if some of tuber is showing. Soil should stay moist--not soaking. Keep in bright light, not direct sun.
also. Make sure best bud is facing up. Should look bigger, fresh, not dried up.
Look for a Spring 2017 issue of Heirloom Gardner. It has a good article on growing turmeric and ginger. The author plants about 4 inches deep and states turmeric is very slow to sprout. Use compost, fertilizer burns the plants.
