You know those little storage cube things you get at Target or the big box stores? You can get single wide, which is about 12" and three cubes high. Turn it on the side. It would be only 12" high which isn't tall enough for a seat. So you build a base (no, it won't be difficult). A 2x4 on it edge would be about 3 3/4 tall. this would bring it up to about 15 3/4 ", which may be tall enough for your seat. Most dining chairs are around 17/18" tall. The 2x4 base should sit a couple of inches back of the cube. Like a toe space or your kitchen cabinets. You could get baskets or cloth cubes to go in the cubes fro storage. If I knew more about what size you needed and what you were going to do I could probably be of more help. If you do need it taller you could add a 1x12 to the 2x4 base and add small castors or leg tips. Add a cushion.
Maybe a Blanket box or Ottoman would be a good start.
