avoid the primer is in the paint thing. i got much better coverage with a standard primer. i will confess, you can have the primer tinted if you like esp if you are going with a darker color. painting over the darker color can be done- i painted a bath that had been painted chocolate brown. took about 3 coats of primer- i did light coats...http://www.rathersquare.com/2013/11/painting-over-oil-based-paint-with-latex-paint/

Oil based paint will not stick to a latex primer. The rule is to use an oil base primer and you can use whichever type paint you want to use as the final coat.
