a Great cleaning with no residue left over on it, sanding to make it a little porous, just a little usually, and/or sanding and preparing a bad spot that the laminent or veneer rubbed off, primer, then paint. I got a primer paint (both in one) at Walmart and it is working good, doing my veneer cabinets, not finished yet.
