Lots of greenery, no flowers. How do I care for a poinsettia to get it to rebloom?

    Where is the poinsettia?

When fall temperatures begin to drop, bring the plant indoors. From October 1 to December 1, (or for at least 40 days) a poinsettia will need a strict light / dark regimen to produce color. Provide 13 to 16 hours of complete and uninterrupted darkness daily. This usually worked for me but since I have cats now I no longer have the plants as they are poisonous to cats.

I NEVER put our plant outside. I have it in the cool home, and it does just fine. Be careful of all the bugs in the pot, when you bring it in. Best wishes.

    like Mary says,

The plant knows when it is cooler, and comes out in the winter/time of the yr. I put ours under the house, in a brown grocery bag, and put it in the darkness. I don't take it out till Dec., then it will be in blossom. This must be taken to a very cool place, NOT in the window, or in a heated room. You may want to put it under the house again, in a brown bag, and see if it will blossom, or if you have to wait till winter, then enjoy it. Best wishes, J.

There is no flower, it is the last leaf blooms turn color as the season chnages. If it is healthy and growing, leave it alone.

I can understand that but I am careful about the bugs and so far haven't had any issues. Thanks for the tip Judy!
