Can you feather finish a glass tile countertop?

We inherited a candy green glass tile countertop when we purchased our house and would love to know if anyone has had luck DIY refinishing a glass countertop. I am afraid that since glass is non porous, the feather finish will just crack and crumble. What if we painted it with epoxy paint first, or something designed to stick to glass? Any ideas would be appreciated!

I've heard of doing this process to concrete countertops but not on glass.

You try a epoxy on a small area and see how it holds up. Not even tile paint kits advise using on glass tiles. Best solution is to replace.

Love the countertop! Paint the brick and use the green as a cheery accent throughout the space...

I agree with some of the others. Love the house you are in. The green is very much an accent color. Sometimes adding more of the green in accessories helps. Looks like rest of counter is granite. I would probably remove the green completely and replace with butcher block if you can't embrace the green.

Spray it, or, rather, dust is lightly with XIM white primer, sealer spray. You were right when you discussed using a primer.

Big word of caution: The over-spray on floor, cabinets, etc quickly because XIM dries quickly.

I have painted mirrored surfaces that lasted for years using XIM as a primer. I know Sherwin Williams carries it.

Just looks like too many different colours going on in a small space. To tone down the tile you can buy glass paint that comes in a spray can. Remember to mask off everything you don't want paint on including the floor. Good luck let us know what you decide.

Thank you all for your replies. The green could be a great accent if the backsplash wasn't a multi color glass tile, the rest of the countertops weren't brown cesarstone, and the cabinets all matched (they don't) Also, glass tiles are not good countertop material. So many of them are split and too delicate to try to regrout, the white grout is stained. We have decided that while we save up for a replacement, covering them with a heavy duty marble contact paper is the way to go. The unicorn spit is awesome and it's definitely something we are considering for a permanent fix but we also realized that the glass tiles could be potentially dangerous and they need to go!
